Astroparticle physics is a rapidly emerging field at the intersection of particle physics and astrophysics. China and Australia are both key players in this field, with involvements in a number of world-leading facilities, and host to major theoretical activities.

This workshop in particular looked at the nature of dark matter, other ‘cosmic relics’ and studies of high-energy particles and their origins. All relevant activities were encouraged to contribute, from astronomy, particle physics, particle cosmology, experiment to theory, radio waves to gamma rays, cosmic rays, neutrinos and gravitational waves. PhD students and early career researchers were specifically encouraged to present their ongoing and emerging projects. Our aim was to bring together a diverse group of researchers to discuss some of the greatest scientific questions of our time.

Please see the companion website for more details. The meeting was virtual, with local hubs supplying catering for attendees.

Topics:
  • The origin of extreme energy particles and photons, and facilities for their detection
  • Nature of dark matter and other ‘cosmic relics’
  • Particle cosmology and the role of particle physics in the early Universe
