AAL and UNSW were pleased to host the 2023 Australian LSST Workshop, held both in-person at UNSW Sydney as well as online from Monday 18 Sep – Tuesday 19 Sep 2023.
AAL and the ADACS-Swinburne and ADACS-Macquarie nodes are ramping up the provision of in-kind software engineering effort to Rubin Observatory, as well as hosting an Independent Data Access Centre (IDAC) in Australia, funded through a combination of an ARC LIEF grant and NCRIS funding. This enables LSST data access rights for 47 Australian PIs, and a further 188 Junior Associates (JAs). This workshop provided a showcase for our community of PIs and JAs to describe the work they are doing to prepare for LSST science, including participation in the Data Preview (DP0) process, and to hear updates on progress from Rubin Observatory management. About 20 people attended the workshop in person, with a similar number participating online.
