AAL supports The Australian Academy of Science Ukraine-Australia Research Fund

AAL is one of many collaborating Australian facilities supporting the Australian Academy of Science Ukraine-Australia Research Fund.

The Ukraine-Australia Research Fund was developed to assist Ukrainian researchers impacted by the current conflict. As well as funding short-term visits to Australia, the Australian Academy of Science is supporting Ukrainian researchers by providing access to leading infrastructure capabilities in Australia, including telescopes and supercomputing facilities.

Under this grant, Ukrainian researchers can access instruments, send samples for analysis and have results returned to their home institutions. This support aims to enable successful award recipients to continue their work, publish results and engage in international collaboration.

Dr Serhii Borysenko is one of the award recipients who will be collaborating with the Australian National University (ANU) from his home institute, Main Astronomical Observatory, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. AAL facilitated contact between ANU and Dr Borysenko prior to the award of funding by the Australian Academy of Science.

Overall, $325,000 has been awarded as part of this funding round. The funds will be shared amongst 24 Ukrainian researchers. AAL would like to congratulate all the recipients.
