eROSITA (extended Roentgen Survey with an Imaging Telescope Array) is an X-ray instrument that has conducted multiple all-sky surveys. eROSITA has been in safe mode since February 2022, however the partnership between AAL and the German eROSITA Consortium (eROSITA_DE) has consistently provided exciting new opportunities for multi-wavelength astronomy projects across the southern sky.

Data from the first all-sky survey by eROSITA was released in January 2024, yielding the largest X-ray catalogue ever published. A series of scientific papers were also released along with the data, including two led by Australian researchers Dr Adelle Goodwin and PhD student Silvia Mantovanini from International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR), Curtin University. Lead investigators Dr Goodwin and Mantovanini combined the X-ray data from eROSITA with optical and radio data from Australian surveys to get deeper insights into high energy cosmic phenomena.

The fourth Australian/eROSITA-DE Joint Collaboration Workshop was held between 25-27 March 2024 for 70 Australian and German astronomers involved with eROSITA projects. The workshop took place in the online environment Gather Town which supports informal networking in addition to scheduled workshop talks. 18 talks were delivered over 7 sessions, and participants connected further during informal networking sessions.
