AAL is pleased to announce the 2025 Australian LSST Workshop (postponed from Feb 2025) will now be held both in-person at the University of Melbourne as well as online from 10-12 June 2025. The workshop will commence just after lunchtime on Tuesday 10 June, and conclude at lunchtime on Thursday 12 June, allowing participants to fly in on Tue morning, and depart on Thu afternoon if they wish. Note that Monday 9 June is the King’s Birthday public holiday in all states except QLD and WA.
Unlike previous workshops, this event will focus on “hands-on” exposure to working with Rubin data, but there will be brief opportunities to describe your own work to prepare for LSST science. In-person attendance is strongly encouraged; however on-line participation will be enabled. The first release of real Rubin data (DP1), from observations with the Commissioning Camera in late-2024, is scheduled to occur a few weeks after the workshop, so attendees will be well-positioned to exploit these data as soon as they become available through the Rubin Science Platform.
There is no registration fee. To register for the workshop (in-person or virtual attendance) please fill out this form (even if you registered back in February). The deadline to register for in-person participation is Monday 2 June 2025; registration for on-line participation will remain open until the start of the workshop.
If you have any questions about the workshop please contact Stuart.Ryder -@- astronomyaustralia.org.au
