AAL's General Principles for Committee Appointments

AAL Advisory Committees

AAL currently has three active committees advising AAL on astronomy facilities, and one new committee to begin in 2017:

  • Astronomy eResearch Advisory Committee (AeRAC), created in 2010.
  • Optical Telescopes Advisory Committee (OTAC), created in 2010.
  • Radio Telescopes Advisory Committee (RTAC), created in 2010.
  • Multi Messenger Astronomy Advisory Committee (MMAAC), to begin in 2017.

Astronomy Supercomputer Time Allocation Committee

The Astronomy Supercomputer Time Allocation Committee (ASTAC) is tasked with allocating the time given to astronomy on several supercomputers including gSTAR, the Swinburne Supercomputer and the NCI National Facility.

National Committee for Astronomy

AAL has observer status as a "Corresponding Scientific Organisation" with the National Committee for Astronomy.
