Antarctic Astronomy Advisory Committee (AAAC)

Terms of Reference

The Antarctic Astronomy Advisory Committee (AAAC) is a committee of Astronomy Australia Ltd (AAL). The purpose of AAAC is to assist AAL by executing the following:

  • Monitor and assess the progress of any Antarctic astronomy projects funded by AAL;
  • Advise AAL on collaboration opportunities within Australia resulting from the use of Antarctic astronomical data or instrumentation techniques;
  • Monitor global developments regarding Antarctic astronomy, and advise AAL on any international collaboration opportunities; and
  • Consult with, and disseminate information to, the Australian astronomical community and other relevant stakeholders regarding all aspects of Antarctic astronomy.

Membership

  • Members of AAAC are appointed by the AAL Board for a fixed term, with the possibility of renewal.
